HINSDALE, Ill. - De’Anthony Melton scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to help Crespi Carmelite defeat Homewood-Flossmoor 50-41 and capture the championship trophy of the inaugural Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Crespi Carmelite (14-1) led from wire-to-wire, scoring the game’s opening bucket and building a 10-6 lead after the first quarter and a 26-21 lead at the half. Homewood-Flossmoor refused to go away, closing the deficit down to just three points after three quarters (34-31) and tying the score on a Jeffrey Boyd three-pointer at the start of the fourth quarter.

Melton took over for Crespi with the score tied, scoring 10 of Crespit’s next 12 points as the Celts scored 15 straight points to take a 49-34 lead and put the game out of reach.

Crespi finished the contest shooting 48.6 percent (18-of-37) from the floor while limiting Homewood-Flossmoor to just 30.8 percent (12-of-39) shooting.

Melton was the star for Crespi Carmelite, finishing with a game-high 22 points and a team-best six rebounds. Brandon Williams added 13 points and six rebounds.

Kendric Pryor and Trelan Morrow scored 12 points apiece to pace Homewood-Flossmoor in the loss. Pryor pulled down a team-leading six boards as well.
