HINSDALE, Ill. - Westinghouse wrapped up its stay at the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic with a 63-59 win over Urban Prep Englewood.

The two teams traded buckets for much of the first quarter before Westinghouse (7-6) scored the final four points of the quarter to carry an 11-10 lead into the second. Urban Prep Englewood (4-8) pulled even at 20-20 with 3:14 left in the half. The Warriors took control by closing the half with a 13-2 run to take a 33-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Warriors lengthened their lead to 14 points early in the fourth quarter but then had to hold off a furious run from Urban Prep. Urban Prep scored 13 straight points to close to within one with 3:24 remaining. Westinghouse was able to seal the win by hitting four of their final six free throws.

Westinghouse used a balanced attack with all nine players who saw the court putting points on the scoreboard. Johnnie Thomas led the way with 11 points while Corinthian Fields scored 10. Chandler Smith and Coreyoun Rushin finished with eight points apiece. Lamonte Lumpkins finished with seven points, five rebounds and seven assists.

Urban Prep Englewood was led by Fred Cleveland’s 17 points. Jayden Gatsby added 12 points and Jeramee’ Simmons scored nine.
