HINSDALE, Ill. – Jalen McCoy totaled a team-high double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead Crete-Monee to a 64-50 win over Perspectives MSA in the consolation round of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Perspectives (4-6) scored the game’s first four points, but Crete-Monee (7-4) responded by scoring the next 14 to open up a double-digit lead. Perspectives trimmed the lead down to four points early in the second quarter, but Crete-Monee answered back with a 15-2 run to extend its lead to 17 points. The Warriors led 32-15 at the break.

Crete-Monee continued to pull away in the second half, leading by as many as 28 points in the third quarter before a late run from Perspectives brought the lead down to 13 with 5:24 left. Crete-Monee pushed the lead back to points before coming away with the 14-point win.

McCoy paced Crete-Monee’s offense, shooting 9-of-15 from the floor to score a game-high 21 points. He pulled down 12 rebounds and also blocked three shots. Victor Curry also finished with a double-double, totaling 13 points and 12 rebounds while adding three assists and two steals. Jeremiah Matthews added nine points while Haashim Keys totaled five points and six rebounds to go with team-highs in assists (six) and steals (five).

Crete-Monee was dominant on the glass, outrebounding Perspectives 58-33. The Warriors pulled down 32 offensive rebounds which they cashed in for 22 points.  

Perspectives was led by Marquan Williams in the loss. Williams poured in 22 points to go with three assists and five steals. DeAndre Lightfoot and Jaquan Lawrence added eight points apiece. Lawrence pulled down nine rebounds in the loss.

With the win, Crete-Monee moves on to tomorrow’s consolation semifinal against St. Charles East at 2:00 p.m. Perspectives will take on Urban Prep Englewood in a consolation contest tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
