HINSDALE, Ill. –Three players reached double figures in scoring to lead Morgan Park to a 52-44 win over Waubonsie Valley in the opening round of the 2025 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Morgan Park (5-2) grabbed a 16-12 lead after one quarter and increased their lead to 32-27 at the half. Waubonsie Valley (6-3) closed to within two points midway through the fourth quarter, but the Mustangs responded with an 8-2 run to close out the contest.

Morgan Park shot 53.8 percent (21-of-39) from the floor, including 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from downtown. Jamarri Watson paced the Mustangs in the win with 16 points, shooting 8-of-10 from the floor. Daniel Wallace added 13 points while Jaque Lewis scored 12.

Waubonsie Valley shot 52.8 percent (19-of-36) from the floor in the loss. Kris Mporokso led the way in the loss with a game-high 21 points while shooting 8-of-13. Kyler Payne added 10 points for the Warriors.

Morgan Park will take on Oswego East in tomorrow's quarterfinal at 8:30 p.m. Waubonsie Valley will meet St. Charles East in tomorrow's consolation bracket at 2:00 p.m.
