HINSDALE, Ill. - Brother Rice secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic with a 55-36 opening-round victory over Lane Tech. Brother Rice (8-3) led for over 31 minutes and never trailed in the contest, building a 25-18 lead at the half and leading by as many as 25 points en route to the 19-point win. Joe Nego led the way for Brother Rice, scoring 14 points while shooting 6-of-14 from the floor. Adam McBrearty came off the bench to total 11 points and six rebounds. The Crusaders shot 53.7 percent (22-of-41) from the floor and outrebounded Lane Tech (4-6) 32-20. Lane Tech shot 31.8 percent (14-of-44) from the floor but missed all 17 3-point attempts. Matt Szafoni finished with 14 points and six rebounds to lead Lane Tech. Brother Rice will take on the winner of the Hinsdale Central/Maine South contest in tomorrow's quarterfinals at 7:00 p.m. Lane Tech will face the loser of the Hinsdale Central/Maine South game tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
