HINSDALE, Ill. - Despite a 17-point deficit with just under five minutes to play in the third quarter, Rockford Aurburn completed the comeback to defeat Plainfield East, 60-55, in the opening round of the 2025 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Rockford Auburn (7-4) outscored Plainfield East (8-4) 41-25 in the second half to secure the victory.

With his team-high 18 points, Amir Danforth of Rockford Auburn became the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic all-time leading scorer. Teammate Mikwan Marshall followed closely behind with 17 points, while the Knights as a team shot 38.6 percent (22-of-57) from the floor and 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from the charity stripe.

Kierre Miller led the way for the Bengals with a game-high 22 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Alijah Little rounded out the double-digit scorers for Plainfield East with 17 points and seven boards. The Bengals shot 35.8 percent (19-of-53) from the field and 60 percent (12-of-20) from the foul line.

Rockford Auburn will face off against Niles North on Saturday, Dec. 27 at 5:15 p.m., while Plainfield East will take on Lincoln-Way East at 11 a.m. in the consolation bracket.
