HINSDALE, Ill. – HINSDALE, Ill. – Hinsdale Central outscored Schaumburg 17-1 in the opening quarter on route to a 66-44 victory in the opening round of the 2023 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Hinsdale Central (6-6) scored the first five points of the contest and never looked back, leading from wire-to-wire. The Red Devils led 35-19 at the break and led by as many as 25 points before cruising to the 22-point victory.

Daniel Orozco and Dillon Dell combined to score 42 points to pace Hinsdale Central in the victory. Orozco poured in 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting will Dell added 20 points, finishing a perfect 6-of-6 from downtown in the victory. Vincas Buzelis flirted with a triple-double, totaling 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. The Red Devils shot a blistering 56.3 percent (27-of-48) from the field, including 62.5 percent (10-of-16) from three-point distance. Hinsdale Central outscored Schaumburg (9-5) 18-2 on fast breaks.

Schaumburg was led by Jordan Tunis’ 13 points. Javonte McCoy added nine points for the Saxons in the loss. Schaumburg shot 35.0 percent (14-of-40) from the floor in the loss.

Hinsdale Central will take on DePaul Prep in tomorrow’s 7:30 p.m. quarterfinal game. Schaumburg will square-off against Lincoln-Way Central in tomorrow’s consolation bracket at 12:30 p.m.
