HINSDALE, Ill. – Jehvion Starwood set the single-game tournament scoring record with 37 points while leading Oswego East to a 79-68 win over Brother Rice in the third-place game of the 2023 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Oswego East opened up a 19-15 lead after the opening quarter, but Brother Rice chipped the deficit down to just three points at 34-31 at the half. Starwood scored half of the Wolves points in the opening half, totaling 17 points while shooting 7-of-10 from the floor.

The Wolves led by as many as 17 points in the third quarter. Brother Rice came no closer than a nine-point deficit as Oswego East took home the third-place trophy with the 11-point win.

Starwood carried Oswego East’s offense, breaking the single-game tournament scoring record of 36 with 37 points while shooting 16-of-24 from the floor, including 5-of-9 from downtown. He added six rebounds and four assists in the win. Noah Mason added 13 points while Mason Lockett scored 12 points and totaled eight assists for the Wolves. Braydon Murphy finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Starwood was named to the all-tournament team for Oswego East. Oswego East shot 57.6 percent (34-of-59) from the floor and outscored Brother Rice 42-26 in the paint.

Brother Rice shot 46.9 percent from the floor, hitting 23-of-49) attempts. Zavier Fitch led the Crusaders in the loss and earned all-tournament honors after totaling 26 points and eight rebounds. He set the single-season tournament record for rebounds with 51. Cale Cosme also earned all-tournament honors after scoring 22 points in the loss. Marcos Gonzales added 12 points and six rebounds for the Crusaders.
