GAME 30 -- Rockford Auburn 73, Hinsdale Central 68 (Fifth Place)

HINSDALE, Ill. – In a game that featured 11 ties and 10 lead changes, Rockford Auburn outlasted Hinsdale Central 73-68 to take home the fifth-place trophy of the 2023 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.
 
The largest lead for either team was just seven points in the contest. Rockford Auburn (9-6) led 24-22 after the first quarter and extended their lead to 37-34 at the half. Hinsdale Central (7-8) pulled even at 59-59 with five minutes remaining, but the Knights used a 10-3 run to open up a three-point lead with 1:29 remaining. The Knights held on for the 73-68 victory.

Rockford Auburn shot 49.1 percent from the floor, hitting 27-of-55 shots. The Knights hit 6-of-18 3-point attempts in the victory. Rakim Chaney was named to the all-tournament team after leading Rockford with 27 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Amir Danforth was also named to the all-tournament team after finishing with 20 points for the Knights. Keon Leach added 12 points for the Knights.

Daniel Orozco paced Hinsdale Central in the loss, scoring a game-high 28 points while shooting 10-of-20 from the floor. Orozco earned all-tournament honors for his play over the four days of the tournament. Vincas Buzellis battled foul trouble but still finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Red Devils. Dillon Dell and Eric Kozys added eight points apiece for Hinsdale Central.
