HINSDALE, Ill. –Tyler Wooten pumped in a game-high 25 points to lead Brother Rice into the quarterfinals of the 2023 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic with a 60-49 victory over Plainfield East.

The game was tightly contested throughout with neither team leading by double figures until the end of the contest. Brother Rice (14-0) held a slim 41-40 lead after three quarters and Plainfield East (5-8) moved in front to start the fourth quarter on a three-pointer by Ebi Ogbomo.

Brother Rice answered back with an 11-0 run to open up a nine-point lead, but back-to-back treys pulled the Bengals to within three with two minutes to place. The Crusaders scored the game’s final eight points to pull away for the 11-point win.

Wooten paced Brother Rice with 25 points while shooting 10-of-17 from the floor. Cale Cosme added 15 points and nine rebounds while Zavier Fitch added eight points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Brother Rice shot 38.8 percent (19-of-49) from the field in the win.

Kevin Tchoffa paced Plainfield East with 17 points and six rebounds. Ogbomo added 12 points, five boards and seven assists for the Bengals.

Brother Rice will face the winner of the Stevenson/Rockford Auburn game in tomorrow’s second quarterfinal game at 5:15 p.m. Plainfield East will face the loser of the Stevenson/Rockford Auburn game in tomorrow’s consolation bracket at 11:00 a.m.
