HINSDALE, Ill. – Jaylan McElroy scored 13 of his game-high 17 points in the second half to lead DePaul Prep to a 49-39 win over Oswego East and into the championship game of the 2023 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Oswego East (11-5) led 9-8 after the first quarter and the Wolves held a slim 21-20 lead at the half. DePaul Prep (14-0) scored the first four points of the third quarter and never trailed the rest of the way. The Rams led 35-32 entering the fourth quarter and slowly built a 10-point cushion with a minute to play before putting the game away with a 15-point victory. The Rams outscored the Wolves 19-7 in the fourth quarter.

McElroy finished with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, including 13 points and seven rebounds in the second half. Rashaun Porter added 15 points while PJ Chambers scored 14 for the Rams. DePaul dominated the game inside, outscoring Oswego East 36-16 in the paint.

Oswego East was led by Jahvion Starwood’s 11 points. Mason Lockett added 10 points and Braydon Murphy scored nine points for the Wolves.

DePaul Prep will battle Marian Catholic in tomorrow’s championship game at 8:30 p.m. Oswego East will face Brother Rice in tomorrow’s third-place game at 7:00 p.m.
