HINSDALE, Ill. –  Jehvion Starwood scored a game-high 22 points to lead Oswego East past Maine South 47-35 and into the semifinals of the 2023 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Oswego East (11-4) led for the entire contest, but Maine South (8-6) stayed close throughout. Oswego East led 12-6 after one quarter and were up 23-17 at the half. Maine South closed to within five points at the start of the fourth quarter but Oswego East pulled away for the 47-35 win.

Starwood led all scorers with 22 points and a game-high nine rebounds, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double. Mason Lockett and Braydon Murphy added six points apiece. Lockett and Noah Mason finished with seven rebounds apiece. Oswego East shot 42.5 percent (17-of-40) from the floor and outrebounded the Hawks 36-26.

Maine South was led by Panayiotis Sotos’ 14 points. Tyler Sierra added six points for the Hawks. Maine South shot just 28.3 percent (13-of-46) from the floor and only 29.2 percent (7-of-24) from downtown.

Oswego East will take on DePaul Prep in tomorrow’s second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. Maine South will battle Hinsdale Central for the right to reach the fifth-place game tomorrow at 5:15 p.m.
