2019 GAME 29: RICHARDS 62, MAINE SOUTH 56 (Consolation Title)

HINSDALE, Ill. – Richards outscored Maine South 18-8 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 62-56 win and capture the consolation bracket championship of the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Richards (8-4) led 16-15 after one quarter, but Maine South (6-5) moved in front after outscoring the Bulldogs 18-9 in the second quarter. The Hawks led 33-25 at the half. Maine South led by as many as 11 points early in the third and led 46-37 with less than a minutes remaining in the third quarter, but Richards used a 7-2 run to end the quarter to pull to within four points.

Maine South led 52-48 with 4:49 left to play, but Richards rattled off eight straight points keyed by a pair of three-pointers from Antwan Jones. The Hawks cut the deficit down to two with 1:36 remaining but came no closer as Richards scored the final four points to earn the six-point win.

Richards shot 51.2 percent (21-of-41) from the floor and took advantage of 19 Maine South turnovers to score 20 points. KaJuan Wines led the Bulldogs with 17 points while Anthony Taylor totaled 14 points and four assists. Burton Harper added 13 points while Albert Jones totaled eight points and nine rebounds. Antwan Jones fnished with eight points.

Maine South shot 45.3 percent from the floor, but only hit 1-of-14 attempts (1-of-14) from downtown. The Hawks outrebounded the Bulldogs 38-18 in the loss. Marko Anderson paced the Hawks in the loss with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Sean Gallery scored 12 points while Nick Ostojic finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
