2019 GAME 22: SAINT RITA 75, WESTINGHOUSE 45

HINSDALE, Ill. – Saint Rita coasted into the fifth-place contest of the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic by toppling Westinghouse 75-45.

Westinghouse (5-8) scored the first four points of the contest, and led again at 8-4, but it marked the last time the Warriors would lead. Saint Rita (9-5) used a 9-0 run to open up a five-point cushion and the Mustangs led 13-10 after one quarter. Leading by just one midway through the second quarter, the Mustangs closed the half on a 15-0 run to open up a 37-21 lead. Saint Rita increased its lead to 17 points after three quarters before pulling away in the fourth quarter for the 30-point win.

Saint Rita shot 48.1 percent (25-of-52) from the floor and knocked down 13-of-22 attempts (59.1 percent) from downtown. The Mustangs also outrebounded the Warriors 40-34.

Alec Millender led the way for the Mustangs with a game-high 23 points. Millender knocked down five three-pointers and added four rebounds and three assiss. Dalen Horace added 15 points while Kevin Murney totaled 10 points and seven rebounds. Christian Henry tallied six points and nine assists in the win.

Westinghouse shot just 29.3 percent (17-of-58) from the floor while struggling from downtown as well, hitting only 3-of-17 attempts (17.6 percent) from beyond the arc.

Martell Webb led the Warriors in the loss with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Saint Rita will take on Oswego East in tomorrow’s fifth-place game at 3:45 p.m. Westinghouse will face St. Charles East tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
