2019 GAME 21: OSWEGO EAST 65, ST. CHARLES EAST 61

HINSDALE, Ill. – Oswego East moved into the fifth-place game at the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic by defeating St. Charles East 65-61.

Oswego East (94) led for nearly the entire contest (29:40), building an early 12-5 lead in the opening quarter. The Wolfpack led by as many as eight points before St. Charles East (6-5) closed to within two points (23-21) after one quarter. The Wolfpack led 35-33 at the half. St. Charles East pulled even at 39-all early in the second half, but Oswego East responded with a 10-2 run over the next four minutes to open up an eight-point lead at 49-41. The Saints managed to cut the lead down to two points with seven seconds remaining, but Grayson Goetz hit a pair of free throws to seal the win for the Wolfpack.

Oswego East shot 52.2 percent (24-of-46) from the floor, including 36.4 percent (4-of-11) from downtown. The Wolfpack converted 14 St. Charles East turnovers into 16 points and outscored the Saints 38-28 in the paint.

William Wolfe led the Wolfpack with 22 points, shooting 8-of-13 from the floor. Jalen Tucker added 13 points while Rithik Ganesan scored 10.

St. Charles East finished the game shooting 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from the floor, including 37.5 percent (9-of-24) from downtown. Chase Monkemeyer led the Saints in the loss with 13 points while Thomas Ditsworth scored 11.

Oswego East will face the winner of the Westinghouse/St. Rita game in tomorrow’s fifth-place contest at 5:15 p.m. St. Charles East will face the loser of the Westinghouse/St. Rita contest tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
