2019 GAME 20: RICHARDS 78, T.F. SOUTH 64

HINSDALE, Ill. – Richards secured a spot in the consolation bracket championship of the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic by defeating T.F. South 78-64.

Richards (8-4) raced out to a big lead, scoring the game’s first 13 points and opening up a 28-8 lead in the opening quarter. The Bulldogs led 29-10 after one quarter. T.F. South stormed back in the second quarter, using a 17-4 run to turn a 21-point deficit into an eight-point halftime deficit. The Rebels closed to within five points early in the third, but the Bulldogs scored the next nine points to push their lead back to 14 with 1:30 left in the third. T.F. South came no closer than 12 points for the rest of the game as Richards pulled away for the 14-point win.

Richards shot 56.9 percent (33-of-58) from the floor, including 42.9 percent (6-of-14) from downtown. The Bulldogs turned 16 Rebels’ turnovers into 31 points.

KaJuan Wines scored a game-high 26 points to pace Richards while Albert Jones finished with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds.

T.F. South finished the contest shooting 40.0 percent (26-of-65) from the floor, but just 1-of-13 (7.7 percent) from beyond the arc. Isaiah Lewis led the way for the Rebels with 16 points and nine rebounds. Marcus Haynes scored 13 and Elijah Watson totaled11 points and eight rebounds.

Richards will face Maine South in tomorrow’s consolation bracket championship at 3:45 p.m. T.F. South will face Rockford Auburn tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
