2019 GAME 18: WILLOWBROOK 49, HINSDALE CENTRAL 47 (OT)

HINSDALE, Ill. – Everett Stubblefield hit a pair of buzzer-beating three-pointers, the first in regulation and the second in overtime, to lead Willowbrook to a 49-47 win over Hinsdale Central in a consolation game at the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Hinsdale Central (3-7) built an early 12-9 lead after one quarter, but Willowbrook surged back in the second quarter, building a 25-23 lead at the half. The two squads traded leads for much of the second half until Hinsdale Central built a three-point cushion with five seconds remaining. Stubblefield hit a long-range three-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game and send it into overtime.

Willowbrook (5-7) jumped out to a five-point lead in the extra period, but the Red Devils answered back with a three-pointer from Nic St. John followed by a free throw from Quinn Cain to pull to within one. After Willowbrook missed a pair of free throws, Ryan Isaacson hit a pair from the charity stripe to put Hinsdale Central in front 47-46 with three seconds remaining. Stubblefield took the inbounds pass and heaved the ball well beyond halfcourt straight through the net, touching off a celebration for Willowbrook as the Warriors came away with the two-point win.

Willowbrook shot 39.6 percent (19-of-48) from the floor, including 31.3 percent (5-of-16) from downtown. Stubblefield led the way for Willowbrook with 15 points and five assists. Deandre Holiday added 12 points for the Warriors while Sam Tumilty score eight.

Hinsdale Central shot 33.3 percent (12-of-36) from the floor, including 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from downtown. Isaacson led the Red Devils with 20 points.

Willowrook will face Lincoln-Way Central tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. while Hinsdale Central will take on Glenbrook North at 9:30 a.m.
