2018 GAME 27 RECAP: Rockford Auburn 72, Richards 57

HINSDALE, Ill. – Four players reached double figures in scoring to lead Rockford Auburn past Richards 72-57 in a consolation game of the 2018 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Richards (8-5) led 19-14 after one quarter and carried a 29-28 lead into the locker room at halftime, but Rockford Auburn (8-8) took control in the second half. The Knights outscored Richards 17-14 in the third quarter to open up a two-point cushion entering the fourth. Richards grabbed an early lead in the fourth after a three-point play from Sean Willis, but Rockford rattled off a 9-4 run to take a five-point cushion with 4:30 reamining.

Richards scored the next five to knot the score with 3:37 left to play, but Rockford Auburn scored the next 16 points over the next three minutes to put the game out of reach.

Rockford Auburn shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the floor and outscored Richards 40-26 in the paint. The Knights also cashed in on 21 Richards’ turnovers, scoring 23 points off the mistakes. Javin Davis led Rockford Auburn with 14 points while Justin Blake Scored 10 and Joshua Ausler added 11 points and four assists. Robert Cheaney came off the bench to score 10.

Richards shot 46.3 percent (19-of-41) in the loss. Albert Jones totaled a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds while Paul Zilinskas scored a team-leading 21 points. Sean Willis added 11 points for the Bulldogs.
