2018 GAME 22 RECAP: Saint Rita 65, Lincoln Park 60

HINSDALE, Ill. –Saint Rita used a strong third quarter to topple Lincoln Park 65-60 and secure a spot in the fifth-place game of the 2018 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Lincoln Park (9-6) led 22-21 at the half, but Saint Rita (9-4) turned things around in the third quarter, outscoring Lincoln Park 22-9 to carry a 43-31 lead into the fourth quarter. The Mustangs extended their lead to 15 early in the fourth quarter before the Lions shot their way back into the contest. Lincoln Park slowly whittled the lead down to four points with 30 seconds left, but Saint Rita was able to seal the victory from the foul line.
Four players reached double figures in scoring to lead Saint Rita. Jeremiah Oden came off the bench to score 19 while shooting 7-of-8 from the floor. Stedmon Ihejirka, Connor Serven and Alec Millender finished with 12 points apiece in the victory. Joel Watts pulled down eight rebounds in the win. The Mustangs shot 55.6 percent (20-of-36) from the floor in the win.

Lincoln Park was led by Tahir Thompson’s 22 points. Thompson hit 7-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-10 from the free throw line while also collecting nine rebounds. Travis Stampley added 15 points for the Lions.

Saint Rita will clash with St. Charles East in tomorrow’s fifth-place game at 5:15 p.m. Lincoln Park will face Willowbrook tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
