2018 GAME 16 RECAP: Homewood-Flossmoor 34, Lincoln Park 32

HINSDALE, Ill. – Homewood-Flossmoor secured the final spot in the 2018 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic by edging Lincoln Park 34-33.

The low scoring contest saw Lincoln Park (9-5) open up a 9-8 lead after the first quarter, but Homewood-Flossmoor (7-3) pulled even at 18-18 at halftime. The Lions built an early third quarter lead of four points, but Homewood-Flossmoor scored six straight to take a two-point lead at 26-24. The Vikings led 28-27 entering the fourth quarter.

After Lincoln Park moved in front on two free throws to start the fourth, Homewood-Flossmoor scored the next six points to take a 34-29 lead following an Isaac Stanback layup. Lincoln Park scored the next four to pull to within a point with one minute remaining. A turnover on H-F gave Lincoln Park a chance to take the lead, but the Lions’ shot was offline and H-F collected the rebound and was able to run out the remaining time on the clock and preserve the win.

Homewood-Flossmoor shot 43.8 percent (14-of-32) from the floor and outscored Lincoln Park 22-10 in the paint. Stanback led the way with 13 points and eight rebounds while RJ Ogom came off the bench to score 10. Maurion Scot added nine points and seven rebounds for the Vikings.

Lincoln Park struggled with its shooting, hitting just 23.9 percent (11-of-46) of its shots. Travis Stampley led the Lions with nine points and eight boards while Tahir Thompson scored eight.

Homewood-Flossmoor will face Oswego East in tomorrow’s 8:30 p.m. semifinal. Lincoln Park will face Saint Rita tomorrow at 5:15 p.m.
