2018 GAME 14 RECAP: DePaul Prep 56, St. Charles East 44

HINSDALE, Ill. – DePaul Prep outscored St. Charles East 30-19 in the second half en route to a 56-44 victory and a spot in the semifinals of the 2018 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

St. Charles East (8-6) started strong, building a 16-13 lead after one quarter. The Saints led 26-25 at the break after shooting 10-of-17 in the opening half.

After a sluggish shooting in the opening half, DePaul (11-1) picked up its offense in the third quarter. With the score tied at 30-30 with six minutes remaining, the Rams closed the quarter on a 12-2 run to open up a 10-point cushion. St. Charles East came no closer than eight points for the rest of the contest as DePaul led by as many as 14 points before closing out the contest with a 12-point win.

DePaul finished the game shooting 37.8 percent from the floor, including 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from three-point range. The Rams took advantage of 13 Saints’ turnovers to score 16 points. Lance Mosley finished with a game-high 21 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from downtown. Raheem Anthony finished with 12 points and nine rebounds while Perry Cowan totaled 11 points. Tyler Johnson added five assists for the Rams.

St. Charles East finished the contest hitting 42.5 percent (17-of-40) from the field. Cody Mitchell paced the Saints with 19 points and nine rebounds. Nate Ortiz added 15 points and four boards.

DePaul Prep will face Marian Catholic in tomorrow’s 7:00 p.m. semifinal. St. Charles East will take on Willowbrook tomorrow at 3:45 p.m.
