2018 GAME 10 RECAP: Stevenson 60, Urban Prep Englwood 30

HINSDALE, Ill. – Stevenson cruised into the consolation semifinals of the 2018 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic with a 60-30 win over Urban Prep Englewood.

Stevenson (10-3) scored the game’s first nine points and never trailed, leading from wire-to-wire. The Patriots led 14-2 after one quarter and 30-11 at halftime. Stevenson continued to pull away in the second half, leading 47-20 after three quarters and leading by as many as 33 points before coasting to the 30-point win.

Stevenson shot 48.8 percent (20-of-41) from the field, including 26.7 percent (4-of-15) from three-point range. The Patriots won the rebounding battle 35-19 and outscored Urban Prep (0-7) 30-14 in the pain. Stevenson turned 16 Lions’ turnovers into 26 points.

Matt Kaznikov finished with 14 points to lead the Patriots while Robert Holmes added 11 points and seven rebounds. Kyree Lewis chipped in with nine.

Urban Prep shot 31.0 percent (13-of-42) from the floor in the loss. Sean Faulkner led the Lions with 12 points.

Stevenson takes on Richards in tomorrow’s 12:30 p.m. consolation semifinal. Urban Prep Englewood will take on Glenbrook North tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
