2017 GAME FIVE RECAP: Rockford Auburn 50, Glenbrook North 40

HINSDALE, Ill. – Rockford Auburn secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic with a 50-40 opening round win over Glenbrook North.

Rockford Auburn (7-40) opened up the game with a 12-2 run, leading by 10 after the first quarter. Trailing by eight midway through the second, Glenbrook North (8-3) rattled off nine straight points to take their first lead of the game at 17-15 with 35 seconds remaining. Rockford Auburn used a Da’Quavious Thompson three-pointer just before the half to build an 18-17 lead at the break.

The Knights quickly pushed their lead back to seven points early in the third quarter and led 35-26 entering the fourth. Rockford Auburn extended its lead to as many as 14 points before closing out the game with the 50-40 win.

The Knights shot 41.2 percent (21-of-51) from the floor and outscored the Spartans 30-18 in the paint. DiMaggio Aldridge led Rockford Auburn with 14 points while Demonde Barmore scored 13. Yahmir Muhammad added seven points and seven boards for Rockford Auburn.

Glenbrook North shot 33.3 percent (14-of-42) from the field. Frank Siegien finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds while Kellen Witherell added 11 points for the Spartans.

Glenbrook North will face the loser of the Bolingbrook/Urban Prep Englewood game tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. while Rockford Auburn will await the winner of the Bolingbrook/Urban Prep Englewood contest in tomorrow’s 7:00 p.m. quarterfinal.
