2017 GAME THREE RECAP: St. Rita 60, Westinghouse 53

HINSDALE, Ill. – Saint Rita outscored Westinghouse 19-8 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 60-53 win in game three of the 2017 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Westinghouse (3-10) built a 26-21 lead at the half and carried a four-point cushion into the fourth quarter before St. Rita (6-7) rallied for the win.  

St. Rita started the fourth quarter on a 9-1 run to open up a four-point cushion at 50-46 with 4:38 left. Westinghouse closed to within two points with two minutes left, but St. Rita finished the game on an 8-3 run to come away with the seven point win.

St. Rita shot just 36.0 percent (18-of-500 from the floor and won the battle on the glass with a 44-32 rebounding advantage. St. Rita turned 18 offensive boards into 21 second-chance points. Javon Cooley came off the bench to lead St. Rita with 13 points and seven rebounds. Laden Gladney added 11 points and eight boards while Jeremiah Oden scored 10.

Elijah Crump carried Westinghouse with 20 points and six rebounds. DeAngelo James added 14 points and five rebounds while also trying the tournament’s single-game blocks record with five. Corinthian Fields added a double-double of 10 points and 11 assists, setting a new single-game tournament assists records in the process, bettering the previous mark of nine.

Westinghouse will face the loser of the Richards/Maine South contest tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. St. Rita awaits the winner of the Richards/Maine South contest in tomorrow’s quarterfinal at 5:15 p.m.
