2017 GAME 29 RECAP: Marian Catholic 60, Homewood-Flossmoor 54

HINSDALE, Ill. – Marian Catholic captured the consolation championship of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic with a 60-54 win over Homewood-Flossmoor.

Marian Catholic (10-2) opened the game on an 11-3 run and never trailed in the contest. The Spartans built a four-point cushion after the first quarter and led 29-16 at the half. The Spartans led by as many as 15 points in the third quarter before Homewood-Flossmoor (8-4) rallied to pull to within six points with just 1:36 left in the third.

The Spartans pushed their lead back up to 11 late in the third, but the Vikings charge back one more, cutting the deficit to just four points with 2:46 left in the contest. Marian rattled off the next six points to open their lead back to 10 points with just 35 seconds left on the clock, sealing up the victory in the process.

Marian Catholic shot 51.4 percent (18-of-35) from the floor in the win. Chris White led the Spartans in the win, shooting 7-of-8 from the floor to finish with 18 points while also blocking six shots, a new single-game tournament record. Ahron Ullis added 17 points, shooting 3-of-6 from the floor and 11-of-11 from the foul line. Malik Tidwell added 11 points and five rebounds.

Homewod-Flossmoor outscored Marian Catholic 28-18 in the paint while shooting 40.7 percent (22-of-54) from the field. Isaac Stanback led the Vikings with 14 points while Sean Jones and RJ Ogom totaled 13 points apiece. Jones added five assists in the loss.
