HINSDALE, Ill. – St. Rita punched their ticket to the championship game of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic by upending DePaul Prep 56-37

Saint Rita (8-7) trailed 5-1 at the start of the game, but the Mustangs quickly surged in front, building a 12-6 advantage after the first quarter and never trailing the rest of the way. Saint Rita led 29-17 at the half and extended their lead to 45-26 after three quarters. The Mustangs led by as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter before coating to the 19-point victory.

Eight different players put points on the scoreboard for St. Rita. Javon Cooley came off the bench to lead the way with 15 points. Jordan Matthews added 12 points while Stedmon Ihejirika totaled nine points and 10 rebounds. Alec Millander finished with seven assists. The Mustangs shot 53.7 percent (22-of-41) from the field, including 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from downtown. Saint Rita outscored DuPaul 30-14 in the paint while also outrebounding the Rams 31-16.

DePaul (11-2) shot 34.3 percent (12-of-35) from the field and 40.0 percent (4-of-10) from downtown. Raheem Anthony paced the Rams with 15 points while Lance Moseley and Perry Cowan totaled nine points apiece.

St. Rita will face the winner of the Bolingbrook/Lincoln Park contest in tomorrow’s Championship game at 8:30 p.m. DePaul Prep will face the loser of the Bolingbrook/Lincoln Park game in tomorrow’s third place game at 7:00 p.m.
