2017 GAME 22 RECAP: St. Charles East 61, Rockford Auburn 35

HINSDALE, Ill. – St. Charles East knocked down 12 three-pointers in a 61-35 win over Rockford Auburn. With the victory, the Saints secured their spot in the fifth-place game of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

St. Charles East (9-4) never trailed in the contest, leading for 31:40. The Saints led 10-7 after one quarter and built a 23-10 lead at the half.

St. Charles continued to pull away in the second half, outscoring Rockford Auburn (7-6) 21-13 in the third quarter and 17-11 in the fourth quarter en route to the 26-poin win.

St. Charles East shot 59.0 perecent (23-of-39) from the field, including 12-of-18 (66.7 percent) from beyond the arc. Nate Ortiz paced St. Charles in the win with 21 points, shooting 8-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-6 from downtown. Zach Robinson added 13 points and three assists while Justin Hardy totaled 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Rockford Auburn shot just 27.1 percent (13-of-48) from the field and only 7.7 percent (1-of-13) from three-point distance.  Yahmir Muhammad led the Knights in the loss with 15 points and five steals.

Rockford Auburn will face Stevenson tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. St. Charles East will take on Maine South in tomorrow’s fifth-place contest at 5:15 p.m.
