2017 GAME 19 RECAP: Homewood-Flossmoor 63, Westinghouse 50

HINSDALE, Ill. – Sean Jones poured in a game-high 27 points to lead Homewood-Flossmoor past Westinghouse 63-50 and into the consolation championship game of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Homewood-Flossmoor (8-3) used strong showings in the second and third quarter to open a 19-point advantage midway through the third. After an even 11-11 first quarter, the Vikings outscored Westinghouse (4-11) 18-11 in the second and 18-8 in the third. Westinghouse managed to slice the deficit down to just eight points midway through the fourth quarter, but the Warriors came no closer as Homewood-Flossmoor pulled away for the 13-point win.

Jones led all scorers with 27 points, shooting 9-of-15 from the floor and 7-of-11 from the foul line while also adding five steals. RJ Ogom also reached double figures in scoring for the Vikings, totaling 14 points to go with seven rebounds. H-F shot 52.5 percent (21-of-40) from the floor, including 6-of-10 (60.0 percent) from long distance.

Westinghouse was led by Corinthian Fields’ 16 points and five assists. DeAngelo James added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors. The Warriors shot 33.3 percent (20-of-60) from the floor in the loss.

Homewood-Flossmoor will await the winner of the Glenbrook North/Marian Catholic contest in tomorrow’s consolation game at 3:45 p.m. Westinghouse will face the loser of the Glenbrook North/Marian Catholic contest tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
