2017 GAME 18 RECAP: Hinsdale Central 59, Urban Prep Englewood 50

HINSDALE, Ill. – Matthew Rush pumped in a team-leading 21 points to lead Hinsdale Central to a 59-50 win in the consolation round of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Hinsdale Central (3-7) opened up a 19-11 lead after the first quarter and maintained an eight-point cushion (26-18) at the half. Urban Prep Englewood (7-3) closed to within four points during a foul-filled third quarter, but the Red Devils pushed their lead up to double digits early in the fourth quarter before holding on for the nine-point victory.

Hinsdale Central shot 45.2 percent (19-of-42) from the floor, including 40.0 percent (6-of-15) from three-point range. Hinsdale Central outscored Urban Prep 24-16 in the paint despite being outrebounded 46-37. Rush paced Hinsdale Central in the win with 21 points and eight rebounds, shooting 8-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-6 from downtown. Max Quast added 10 points while Danell Nicholson and Trevor Hamilton scored eight points apiece.

Urban Prep Englewood was led by DeVonte Williams’ 21 poitns on 6-of-18 shooting. Eddie Anderson added 11 points for the Lions. Urban Prep struggled with its shooting, hitting just 20.0 percent (13-of-65) from the floor, including just 3.8 percent (1-of-26) from beyond the arc. The Lions collected 26 offensive rebounds leading to 16 second chance points.

Urban Prep Englewood will face Richards in tomorrow’s consolation game at 9:30 a.m. while Hinsdale Central will take on Crete-Monee in a consolation game tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
