2017 GAME 15 RECAP: Bolingbrook 60, Rockford Auburn 53

HINSDALE, Ill. – Tyler Cochran scored a game-high 22 points to lead defending champion Bolingbrook past Rockford Auburn and into the semifinals of the 2017 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Bolingbrook (9-1) never trailed in the contest, after opening the game on a 15-4 run, building an 11-point lead early in the first quarter. The Raiders led 21-12 after one and built a 31-20 lead at the half.

The Raiders led by as many as 15 points in the third before Rockford Auburn (7-5) used an 11-2 run to pull to within six points late in the third quarter. A 6-0 run early in the fourth quarter quickly pushed the Raiders’ lead back to 12 points and Rockford Auburn came no closer than a six-point deficit with just 30 seconds left to play.

Cochran paced Bolingbrook in the win, totaling 22 points while shooting 8-of-10 from the floor. He added seven rebounds in the victory. Joseph Saracco added 10 points and five rebounds while Kaleb Thornton and Jordan Myrick scored nine points apiece. The Raiders shot 50.0 percent (24-of-48) in the contest and outrebounded the Knights 46-28.

Rockford Auburn shot 31.8 percent (21-of-66) from the field and just 1-of-10 (10 percent) from downtown. Yahmir Muhammad led the way with 20 points while Demonde Barmore and Terry Purifoy totaled 12 points apiece.

Rockford Auburn will face the loser of the St. Charles East/Lincoln Park contest in tomorrow’s fifth-place bracket at 5:15 p.m. Bolingbrook will await the winner of the St. Charles East/Lincoln Park matchup in tomorrow’s 8:30 p.m. semifinal.
