2016 GAME SIX RECAP: HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR 53, ST. VIATOR 38

HINSDALE, Ill. - Homewood-Flossmoor scored the game's first 13 points and never looked back en route to a 53-38 win over St. Viator in the opening round of the 2016 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Homewood-Flossmoor (8-1) put St. Viator (3-7) in an early 11-point hole as the Vikings scored the game's first 13 points and held St. Viator scoreless for nearly seven minutes. The Vikings led 15-5 after one quarter and built a 28-13 lead at the half.

Homewood-Flossmoor continued to pull away in the second half, extending its lead to 19 points (43-24) after three quarters. St. Viator managed to cut the deficit down to 12 points but came no closer as Homewood-Flossmoor closed out the contest with a 15-point win.

Jarrett Tribble, Cortez King-Parks and Jeffrey Boyd combined to score 35 of the Vikings' points in the win. Tribble led the way with 13 points and six boards while King-Parks recorded a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Boyd finished with 11 points while Elijah McCreary added nine.

Homewood-Flossmoor shot 50.0 percent (22-of-44) from the floor, including 25.0 percent (3-of-12) from beyond the arc. The Vikings outrebounded St. Viator 34-28 in the win and outscored the Lions 26-8 in the paint.

J.R. Cison led St. Viator in the loss with eight points. Mark Clark and Tom Majerus scored seven points apiece. The Lions shot just 27.9 percent (12-of-43) from the field, including 25.0 percent (5-of-20) from downtown.

Homewood-Flossmoor will face Rockford Auburn in Wednesday’s quarterfinal at 7:00 p.m. St. Viator will take on Richards in a consolation game on Wednesday (December 28) at 12:30 p.m.
