2016 GAME FIVE RECAP: ROCKFORD AUBURN 84, RICHARDS 63

HINSDALE, Ill. - Justin Robinson dropped in a season-high 20 points to lead Rockford Auburn to an 84-63 win over Richards in the opening round of the 2016 Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.

Rockford Auburn scored the game's first six points and never trailed, leading from wire-to-wire. Richards used a 7-2 run to pull to within a point at 8-7, but Rockford Auburn responded by closing the quarter with a 14-2 run to carry a 22-9 lead into the second quarter.

The Knights continued to pull away in the second, leading by as many as 19 points and bringing a 37-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Leading by 19 after three quarters, the Knights scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to open up a commanding 25-point cushion before cruising to the 21-point victory. The Knights broke the tournament's single-game scoring record, which they set last season.

Rockford Auburn (7-4) shot 52.1 percent (37-of-71) from the floor and dominated inside, outscoring Richards 58-36 in the paint and owning a 44-22 edge on the glass. Robinson paced the Knights with 20 points while shooting 9-of-15 from the floor. Maleek Jarrett added a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds while Yahmir Muhammad totaled 10 points and five assists. Terry Ford and Tenonah Tatum finished with nine points apiece.

Richards (5-4) shot 50.0 percent (25-of-50) from the floor but turned the ball over 19 times, resulting in 25 points for Rockford Auburn. Jaylan Catledge led the Bulldogs in the loss with 18 points while Jeremiah Melton scored nine.

Rockford Auburn will face the winner of the Homewood-Flossmoor/St. Viator contest in Wednesday’s quarterfinal at 7:00 p.m. Richards will await the loser of the Homewood-Flossmoor/St. Viator contest in a consolation game on Wednesday (December 28) at 12:30 p.m.
